Join us on Thursday, April 27, 6:30 to 8:30 pm for our Spring Innovator Symposium and summer program Open House!
Meet leading scientists, researchers and entrepreneurs from MIT’s Media Lab, Tufts School of Engineering, Harvard University and more. Try your hand at drawing in Virtual Reality, wood working, robotics, several design, and engineering or an architecture challenges, and many other hands-on activities. Learn about bio-materials developed to model neuro-degenerative disease, political tribalism on Twitter, or how to doodle in 3D. Come see our great facility, and meet many of the teachers who will be leading our programs this summer! Finish up the evening with a community drum circle and marshmallow roast!
This event is free and open to anyone. Bring your family, friends and colleagues!
Register now for Summer 2017!
From discovering BioElectronic Arts to making a Skateboard, from Animal Architecture to Minecraft Builders, from Nature Journaling to Understanding Infinity, from Podcast Theater to Drawing in Virtual Reality — there are great new programs in our Summer 2017 STEAM Camp line-up! We are also bringing back some of last summer’s favorites, such as Outdoor Survival, Science for Curious Kids, Detective Club, and Metal Casting.
Our camp will run for 11 weeks, from June 12 through August 25, 2017. Registration is now open! You can browse individual descriptions for a total of 128 offerings by week from our home page (thank you for your patience as we finish filling in all session descriptions.) A detailed schedule including pricing is here, and registration details and forms can be found here.
For the first time, we will be offering programs specifically for 5 to 7 year olds this summer: Woodworking Jr. (AM) & Computer Science: Scratch Jr. (PM) in week 5, July 10-14; and Minecraft Build Challenge (AM) and Robotic Explorers (PM) in week 7, July 24-28. A few offerings in weeks 10 and 11 are also open to students younger than 7.
Also, we hope you check out the new, strong middle school programs we’ll be offering throughout the summer, featuring workshops in Leadership, Astronomy, Architecture, The Power of Identity, Hamilton & Hip Hop and more.
At Acera, we offer challenging, fun, hands-on STEAM learning for children age 5 through 15. Summer sessions run in the morning (9 am to 1pm), afternoon (noon to 4 p.m.) and full day (9 am to 4pm), with late pick up available until 6 p.m.
In our hands-on learning environment, elementary and middle school children can nurture their natural desire to inquire, create, and innovate; and experiment with content and concepts usually reserved for older students–or not introduced during K-12 school years.
With emphases on critical thought, creative problem solving, and integration of content areas, our programs inspire all types of learners and thinkers. Students discover engineering, biotechnology, math, arts, theater, design, electronics, music, chemistry, physics, teamwork, friendships — and who they are: as individuals, learners, and collaborators.
For an example of how students can collaborate, design, build and learn at Acera, watch this PBS Design Squad video filmed at our wood shop session on Catapult Building last summer.
We look forward to a fun summer of learning, exploring, growing and making together!
