Welcome to the Acera School’s STEAM Camp website!
Launched in 2015, our summer program extends the rich STEAM learning experiences available at our school to the summer months. Open to both Acera and non-Acera students in elementary and middle school, our program offers unique opportunities for STEAM exploration and growth, and engages students in hands-on, contextual learning across disciplines.
Where else can 5-year-olds learn early woodworking skills, including how to work with hammers, nails, saws? Where else can you build a raft from scratch in a week, and race it on the Upper Mystic River? Or design and run your own synthetic biology experiments in a lab with a real Boston biotech scientist? And where else do experienced, lead classroom teachers stick around after the end of school to teach engaging, high-quality, STEAM-rich summer camp sessions?
On this site, you will find over 100 sessions to explore, running between June 12 and August 25, 2017. Offerings are listed by week, and to get an overview, you can check out the complete schedule. You can read more about our fabulous teachers and find out about registration details. And below, you can find information on our philosophy for this STEAM camp, and what to expect.

The Acera Summer STEAM Camp is a creativity-based arts and sciences day camp where children can nurture their natural desire to inquire, create, and innovate. With emphases on critical thought, creative problem solving, and integration of content areas, our diverse program offerings inspire all types of learners and thinkers. Our staff consists of professionals with significant experience in the classroom and in their own fields of expertise. Among them are award winners, active research scientists, and working artists. We believe in offering high caliber, authentic, engaging instruction, as much during the summer as during our school year program.
